Performance and use
This diffuser is very quick and easy to set up and use. You just fill it with plain tap water and optionally add a few drops of an essential oil. It works very well with essential oils, and does a great job at spreading a nice aroma around the home.
The light is quite soothing and provides some nice mood lighting. It has two brightness settings and you can also turn it off altogether so it won’t keep you awake at night.
This diffuser helps increase the number of negative ions in the air. Despite being called ‘negative’ ions, these ions actually have lots of health benefits. This diffuser also helps humidify the air, preventing dry sinuses and other health problems in the winter.
The Aglaia Aroma Diffuser 100 ML is an ultrasonic diffuser. This means it produces steam by vibrating water molecules at a particular frequency. The steam bubbles produced by ultrasonic diffusers are smaller than the regular steam produced by a kettle for example, which helps them disperse better in the air.
With a capacity of just 100 ml, this diffuser is very small and is better suited for a small room rather than a large space. It runs for about 3 hours on constant mode or 6 hours with intermittent mist. It has a safety auto-off feature which means it turns itself off when the water level is low.
The Aglaia Aroma Diffuser 100 ML is very quiet and is unlikely to keep you awake at night. You might even find the sound of the water gurgling relaxing.
Unsurprisingly given this diffuser’s low price, it doesn’t have great build quality and is unlikely to last a long time. It feels a bit plasticky, and it’s quite likely you’ll need to replace the diffuser after a year or so.
Pros and cons
For the price, the Aglaia Aroma Diffuser 100 ML does a great job and runs very quietly. It’s quite small and doesn’t have a colour-changing light, but if you want something cheap and straightforward it’s a good choice.
If you want something less plasticky you should consider the Aglaia Glass Aroma Diffuser. It’s very similar to the Aglaia diffuser reviewed here, though as you might have guessed from the name it’s made from glass rather than plastic. It also has a light that changes between 7 colours, unlike the plastic version which just has a light with 2 levels of brightness.
A popular diffuser from a different brand is the VicTsing Aroma Diffuser 300ML. This diffuser looks quite different to the Aglaia diffuser reviewed here with a curved wood-effect finish. It has a bigger water capacity, making it better suited to large rooms.
