If you’re like most people, you probably give the kitchen a quick clean after cooking but very rarely give it a deep clean. This means there will be several hidden spots that haven’t been cleaned properly for months.
Here are some commonly-neglected areas that you really ought to deep clean:
1. The bottom of cupboards
The bottom of cupboards and under the fridge doors are two areas that often get missed when you mop the floor. You’ll probably find all kinds of food leftovers and bits of hair hidden under there. Get down on your hands and knees with a vacuum cleaner and then use a steam cleaner or mop to clean the floor.
2. The sink
Once you’ve done washing up, how often do you stop and scrub the sink itself? It’s important to clean the sink, especially when you consider that you use it for washing everything else. If your sink is grimy and discoloured, it’s time to give it a clean.
An old toothbrush is a good tool for scrubbing the plughole and getting into corners of the sink that might get neglected.
3. The dishwasher
Like the sink, the dishwasher needs to be clean if it’s going to do its job properly. Your dishwasher can collect limescale, and hidden nooks and crannies can become home to mould. You should carefully take out the detachable parts of the dishwasher and clean them thoroughly. You might find little bits of food stuck here and there.
