Where Do You Put Vinegar in A Front Load Washer?

To add vinegar to your washing, all you need to do is simply pour in the required amount into the compartment where you would normally add the fabric softener or laundry detergent. The washing machine will then add the vinegar to your wash.

Vinegar can help keep your clothes soft. However, some people may argue that while vinegar is a cheaper option, fabric softener is still the ideal choice for a soft and pleasant-smelling result.

How Do You Clean a Washing Machine with Vinegar?

why use white vinegar

If you plan on using vinegar to clean your front washer, then you can do so by spraying the drum of your washing machine with the white vinegar. You can then wipe around the drum as well as wiping around any rubber gaskets inside the washer.

Alternatively, you can choose to run white vinegar through an empty wash cycle to clean your washer. Simply pour the vinegar into the fabric softener compartment and run on a hot water cycle to ensure your washer is cleaned effectively.

Does Vinegar Damage Front Load Washers?

On the whole, vinegar is relatively safe to use in your washing machine. However, do bear in mind that vinegar is abrasive and may cause damage to any rubber parts or sealant in the washing machine.

Vinegar is a cost-effective way to deodorise and soften your clothes when washing. However, it is best to avoid using it where possible or avoid frequently running it through your washer.

Can I Use Vinegar and Laundry Detergent Together?

It is completely possible to use laundry detergent and vinegar whilst doing the same load of laundry. However, the two products will cancel each other out since vinegar is acidic and laundry detergent is alkaline.

It is recommended to only use one or the other, or to add vinegar into the washing machine during its final rinse cycle.

Can I Put Vinegar in My High-Efficiency Washer?

distilled white vinegar as fabric softener alternative

Yes, you can add vinegar to your high-efficiency washer. Vinegar can be used as both a fabric softener and odour remover as well as a cleaning agent for washing the drum of your washing machine.

Simply add the vinegar to where you would usually add fabric softener to ensure the vinegar is used in the final rinse cycle, this will act as a fabric softener.

To use it to clean your washer, simply add two cups of white vinegar to where the detergent usually goes and run it through an empty cycle using hot water. This will help clean the internal components of your washer.
